The climb auto system is a climbing-assisted lifting device installed on a fixed ladder inside a wind turbine tower. It is designed for transporting operators to a height that is most convenient for working in a wind turbine.

 

The climb auto system integrates the functions of assisting climbers in lifting and transporting materials within ladders. It can be easily installed within the inner climbing ladder passage without altering the existing tower structure. It offers high safety, smooth operation, compact design, and simple operation. Compared with the previous climb auto system, this climb auto system provides zero-energy climbing and material transport for climbers climbing ladders within wind turbine towers, shafts, or other locations, which significantly improves the efficiency of wind turbine maintenance operations.

Advantages of Climb Auto System

1. Security

* Dual independent anti-fall protection system: the climb auto system and the operator have independent anti-fall protection systems. These two systems have independent stress points, and the safety of both personnel and the climbing device is guaranteed at different stress points. The climb auto system is equipped with an anti-fall protection device that also has a centrifugal speed measurement function. When the falling speed of the climbing device exceeds the preset speed of the anti-fall protection device (22m/min≤V≤30m/min), the anti-fall protection device will immediately activate and lock the climbing device lifting body on the slide rail, ensuring the safety of the operator and the climbing device.

* Overload protection: When the device is overloaded or encounters an obstacle that blocks its operation, the device will sound an audible and visual alarm and stop running immediately, providing safety protection for the operator and the device.

* Double-point start: The operator must press the handle switch with both hands at the same time before the climber can operate. The machine will stop if the hands are released during operation (either one or both hands are released). The setting of the switch position can ensure that the operator can ride in the correct posture, reduce the chance of interference between the operator and the accessories inside the tower, and ensure the personal safety of the operator.

* Double limit protection: The climbing device is equipped with mechanical and electronic double limit devices on the starting and ending platforms. When the device reaches the predetermined position, it stops immediately upon contact. When the electronic limit function fails, the mechanical limit can force the climbing device to stop running, preventing it from hitting the top or bottom of the pier.

* Operation locking protection: The free climber has three control modes: vehicle body, remote control, and electric control box. The control authority is the vehicle body > remote control > electric box. The vehicle body has absolute priority. When the operator operates on the lifting vehicle body, the remote control and the electric control box are automatically locked to prevent others from operating them incorrectly. When the remote control or electric control box needs to be used for operation, the knob on the right side of the vehicle control panel must be turned to automatic mode; otherwise, the remote control or electric control box cannot be operated.

* Slow down when passing the platform: When the lifting vehicle of the climb auto system approaches the platform, it slows down to half of the rated speed and automatically resumes the rated speed after passing the platform, which improves the safety of the operator when passing the platform.

* Stop when encountering an obstacle: If the platform cover is not opened or there are other obstacles in the channel that hinder the operation of the climb auto system during the ascending operation of the climb auto system (in remote control or electric control box control mode), the climb auto system will stop and issue an alarm.

2. Stability

* High-strength guide rails: Specially designed for high strength, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance, the ladder's guide rails enhance the existing ladder structure and adapt to various ladder types and installation conditions. They also serve as part of the vehicle's anti-fall protection system and the personnel's vertical lifeline system. They reduce interference between the guide rails and the lifeline, and the use of a rolling friction fall arrester ensures smooth, secure operation without any jamming.

* Guidance and anti-slip and anti-tilt: The free-climbing device is equipped with 4 sets of guide wheels made of special materials, 2 sets of anti-slip components ,and 2 sets of anti-tilt components, which reduce the left and right swaying of the free-climbing device during operation, ensuring the smooth operation of the free-climbing device and ensuring that derailment will not occur under any circumstances.

* Variable Frequency Vector Control: Advanced variable frequency vector control technology provides better dynamic performance and more accurate torque control. It maintains a stable lifting force and allows for slow starting and stopping, making ascent and descent more comfortable for the operator.

3. Convenience

* Wire rope tension adjustment function: The wire rope tension adjustment system is used to ensure that the tension of the traction wire rope of the climb auto system is always within an appropriate range. It is set above the starting platform of the climb auto system to facilitate the operator to check, adjust and maintain.

* Split folding pedal: The pedal of the climb auto system can be folded and has a damping function to prevent it from sliding freely after being folded, which facilitates the safe evacuation of personnel in an emergency.

* Manual descent: In the event of power failure or outage, when personnel leave the equipment, they can manually operate the equipment to descend to the designated position at the starting platform.

* One machine, one code: The electric control box, remote control, and lifting body of the free climber adopt a one-machine, one-code control method. Each free climber is equipped with an electric control box and a remote control, which can avoid the problem of interference between adjacent units and the need for on-site code matching when using the same remote control.

* Fault code display function: When the climb auto system fails to operate, the operator can view the fault code through the display window on the electric control box panel, and find out the cause of the fault by comparing it with the fault code table to eliminate the fault in time.
